Event: Connors Day 2012
On 8th September 2012, the motoring fraternity got together to support an 11 year old boy called Connor. Connor has been battling cancer for a number of years. Connor and his dad are big car fans and, not being able to find anything local, decided to put on his own show.
His father posted the request on a Subaru enthusiasts forum, and the event gathered momentum very quickly. Within 24 hours, more than 1,500 cars had signed up. A cap had to be put on the numbers, with 500 turning up on the day. It was a momentus, one off event organised in less than 2 weeks.
The full story can be found by clicking here. It was a great day and Connor looked to love every minute of it! The volunteers responsible for the organisation was very slick; it was incredibally well put together and showed what really can be done when there is motivation for such a worthy cause.
Below is a map of the event, showing the extent of attendance for this very special day.
Addendum. Very sad news, Connor is no longer with us, he passed away in January 2013. An amazing inspiration to all of us, and the reason behind this fantastic motoring related event. My deepest sympathies go to his family and friends. Rest In Peace little man.
